Determining if a force sensor is overloaded can be quickly identified through a four-step method: visual inspection, output signal analysis, zero-point drift measurement, and professional testing.
Visual Inspection: Bending or Deformation
If the sensor's elastomer shows obvious bending, twisting, or cracking, it indicates that it has been subjected to a load far exceeding its tolerance limit, constituting a severe overload, which is usually irreparable.
Abnormal Output Signal
The signal exceeds the normal range, even exceeding the upper limit of the range; Severe fluctuations or jumps occur under stable load, and persist even after eliminating external interference, possibly due to damage to the internal strain gauge causing overload.
Zero-Point Drift Exceeds the Threshold
Use a multimeter (set to the mV range) to measure the four-wire sensor signal line (green and white wires):
Ensure the test is performed without any load;
If the measured zero-point voltage is > 0.2mV, it can be basically determined that the sensor is overloaded.
